This is one of my favorite places to get food. No other Indian restaurant comes close to the food here! I am never disappointed with what i get and the cheese naan is simple the best. If possible I'd definitely eat here everyday 😁. I'm so glad I found the new location, I was so heart broken when the other place closed down.

The food here was wonderful! It was my first time trying Indian food, and I am happy to say that I loved it! The service was beyond amazing, and the hospitality of the waiter was what is leading me to go back in the future. I would highly recommend to come here and try all of food.

SUPPORT SMALL FAMILY OWNED BUSINESSES! I used to go to this restaurant when I lived within a mile of their former location in North Hollywood. I just found out today they moved to Van Nuys and couldn't pass up the opportunity to eat here again. Such amazing food and the owner's are genuine, kind, and fantastic people. Every time I have Assam I end up feeling so happy after eating. Simply, the best food I've ever had, made with love!

I first went to Assam to treat my family to a Mother's Day dinner, and we were absolutely blown away by the DELICIOUS food. Not only was the food wonderful, but Shem and his sister are as well!! They truly make the experience of coming to Assam great, and deserve every bit of business they get!! They are located in a small restaurant right now, but I hope that they will grow to be a huge successful restaurant with time. I will go back to Assam every time. I hope you will take the time to go there too. Thank you Shem!!

Im not getting paid or whatever to make this comment this is 100% from my heart🥰 and my taste 😋 Me and my wife went to this random indian restaurant last month because my wife is preggy and she was so hungry!. The time we went there we met the owner "Assam" (the busser ,runner and dishwasher) and the cooks of the restaurant. they are very knowledgable about whats in the menu . Assam was very detail in ingredients. I ordered the tikka masala lamb. Damn! Its bomb !🔥 Plus the nan bread.. my wife order the redcurry chicken spicy. We both ask for more nan 🫓and extra rice🍚 because its very delicious😋 we end up finishing our dish! 👌 GOOD SERVICE 🧏‍♀️ + DElICIOUS FOOD🍗= ⭐️AMAZING RESTAURANT!⭐️🌈🕋🙏

This place is fantastic! The food is delicious, and the service is amazing! The server explained that the small establishment is owned by him and his siblings! Authentic Indian food! Definitely going back soon.

This restaurant is such a gem! I absolutely enjoyed my experience. One of the owners, Sham, was there and he was so very kind and attentive to each customer. The food will speak for itself! The portion sizes were very generous. My absolute favorite was the paneer makhani. I loved the richness of the sauce. It had just the slightest hint of sweetness and was spiced so well. The mango curry with chicken was also very smooth and had the distinct sweetness of a mango with bright sauce. Both of these entrees paired very well with their garlic naan. Their garlic naan was great because the texture was perfect and I could taste the crispy garlic bits peppered throughout the naan through the flavors of each curry. Pro tips: ALL of their entrees come with a side of rice which is such a rare find. And look how fluffy the rice is! They also have a large selection of vegetarian and vegan options. Overall, I would highly recommend this place. You don't want to miss it. There is traditional music playing lightly inside. The interior of the restaurant is very clean and the booths are spaced well so it doesn't feel cramped at all. And of course, you must go for the sake of your taste buds! NOTE: When I mapped to this place from Google Maps, the app automatically directed me to 6322 NORTH Van Nuys Blvd, San Fernando Valley, CA 91401. Their address actually IS NOT on NORTH Van Nuys Blvd. It is JUST 6322 Van Nuys Blvd, San Fernando Valley, CA 91401. (The two addresses are only 1 mile apart, but definitely something to note especially if you are walking!)

Was intrigued by this place due to the perfect 5 star rating, and allow me to say that it completely deserves that stellar rating! We were welcomed by Sham, one of the owners, who is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. His dedication and passion for his restaurant and the dishes they serve is clear. The atmosphere is lovely, with nice comfy booths and traditional music playing. We ordered the Paneer Makhani and Mango Chicken Curry, which came with Jasmine rice. The flavors were a perfect balance of sweet, savoury, and spicy, and the sauces were creamy. It was delicious! The garlic naan was also amazing, perfectly crisped and flavored. Side note: if you are having trouble locating this restaurant, please just remove the "North" from your destination on Google Maps, and it should then lead you to the correct place!

As I sit here smiling from a sense of pure joy and contentment. I am trying to gather the right words to express what I consider hands down one of the most memorable experiences and evenings of my life, not just food wise but mentally & emotionally an enchanting night and honestly a newfound genuine friendships made.. My husband on a whim decided to look for a new Indian restaurant. He saw all 5 stars on here and decided let's check it out. We are huge foodies and love exploring new holes in the wall! As a born and raised van Nuys Valley gal. I sort of know my way around food spots. Well this is more than a tiny hole, this is what I consider a HIDDEN GEM! The decor is simple and gorgeous and they won me over with the purse hooks on the edge of their booths and tables (y'all think of everything)! It's the little things.. Sham greeted us and welcomed us with open arms. We were the only ones there but from the moment we stepped inside the door until our almost 3 hour stay which felt like we were being served a 5 course meal at a Michelin star restaurant of delicacies, we fell in LOVE with their family recipes. He had us start at the basics, to warm our engines up. This place is NO joke! It's exquisite, charming, delicious, welcoming and homey. He greets us with water bottles and a bright warm hearted welcome. Order the vegetable samosa! Tamarind Chutney & Fresh Mint Chutney with the perfect little heat to the tongue. If it's too spicy for you he quickly brings over a Raita which is heavenly that has cool cucumber herbs and yogurt to reduce the heat. The spice level was a mild to me, but I have a high tolerance for heat for your average white girl. Sham recommend their version of Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala! Basmati and saffron, and garlic naans! We no joke, almost fell out of our chairs it was SOOOO delicious! Each bite of food you took, literally just makes you smile. Not any smile... that warm fuzzy, I am so grateful and happy feels. This food can change your mood if you're having a bad day and literally just hypnotize you into happiness. They have their recipes down. I have never in my life enjoyed Indian food as much as I have tonight. My husband and I have agreed to eat our way through the whole menu! This darn good and flavorful Indian food. They have their spices PERFECT. I literally have been back to them with my husband twice in one week. Not to mention it is 100% Halal!!!! :) The Tandoori came out SIZZLING hot!! It felt like I was in Vegas getting served at a 5 star restaurant! I was blown away! We had so much food and enough to take some home to my mother too! We were beyond content and I don't like to waste. But I just had to try their rice pudding for kicks.. And WOW that rice pudding was to die for. Golden raisins, cinnamon and just a medley of warm spices. Shams, my husband and I got to chat for a few good hours as we counted endless online orders be picked up. We truly enjoyed this hidden gem and feel like we've known Shams our whole lives. You know in life, you meet some people, and you remember them forever. Well Shams is one of them. May God continue to always watch over and protect him and his brother and family, as they rise to ultimate success! This is a testament to my words that they are going places. BIG PLACES. And I am forever changed because of the warmth and welcoming he greeted us with and shared such a cherished love and passion for their families recipes with all of us. Don't walk there, RUN there!! Never judge a hole in the wall by it's cover, this place is gorgeous and delicious!!!
